Spoilt Ballot PaperI am one of the people who chose to spoil my ballot paper in the last election. I thought hard about the action I took, and whilst I could not bring myself NOT to vote at all, as I feel too much respect for those who have fought and died for the freedom that we all have;I wished to register my own protest at the increasing dissatisfaction I, and many others, feel at the political state of our country. NONE of the main stream parties reflect my interests, or inclinations accurately, and most seem very content to milk the quiet suburban and rural middle classes, whilst pandaing to the politically correct, minority pressure groups who seem to grab our headlines with regularity. I sincerley hope that given time, many others will chose to do as I now do, and when our local returning officer finds a large proportion of spoilt ballot papers in the count, then some sort of questioning and self examination might take place, amongst our complacent establishment.
Be warned, there ARE a lot of very disaffected voters out here in the 'sleepy' shires, and they will NOT be put upon forever, and will eventually start to bite back.
